Throughout the ages, a strong chin has always been considered to be a sign of beauty. Chin augmentation, is a surgical procedure that has helped thousands of people improve their appearance by changing the contours of their face.
Chin surgery is usually performed to augment a weak chin or to balance other facial features, such as a prominent nose. Cosmetic surgeons often use a
chin implant, for chin enlargement. In addition to cosmetic chin surgery, facial implants are also commonly used to enhance the cheeks (for higher cheekbones). Chin implants can be combined with cheek implants or used in conjunction with liposuction surgery; or other cosmetic facial procedures such as a facelift or rhinoplasty nose surgery to achieve facial balance.
Doctor Saulius Vikšraitis uses porex implants. Chin implants are made from special medical-grade materials that, when positioned and inserted, look and feel like normal bone so it is almost impossible to tell the difference.
Who is the best candidate?
The best candidates for a chin implant are patients with a receding chin or a weak chin. If you have a chin that looks too small in comparison with other facial features, you would also benefit from this, for example, a chin implant can improve the neckline and make a large nose appear smaller, and so will help balance out the facial features. It can also improve a rounded face and neck.
Chin augmentation
The best candidates for genioplasty are patients with weak or receding chins (microgenia), but with a normal dental bite. Expectations of looking and feeling better after surgery should be discussed with the plastic surgeon before any surgery, keeping in mind that the desired result is improvement, not perfection. The facial profile can be balanced by extending the chin in relation to the nose. The proper chin size can be measured by its position relative to the lower lip. If we draw a line straight down from the lower lip, and we look where the chin is in relation to this line, we can determine if chin augmentation is needed.
For men, the chin should be close to or at the red line. For women the chin should be a couple or so millimeters away from the red line.
