LIPOSUCTION
Liposuction is like "body sculpture", it helps to form an attractive body shape, but does not help to get rid of unnecessary weight. Liposuction of the whole body is impossible. If you want to become slimmer, you will have to choose another way: take up sport or stick to a diet. It is advisable to suck hypodermic to only suck hypodermic fat from the places where an excess of hypodermic fat distorts the outline of the body. The quantity of the fat extracted is not great (between 200 and 2000ml), but this is enough to fix the figure. the areas where liposuction is best preformed are the lower parts of the chin, neck and cranweb. Also areas around the armpit, the abdomen, the nates, side protuberance of the thigh, and the knee joint.
The resulting effects of liposuction are much better when the skin of the patient is elastic and bouncy. After 40 years of age the skin usually loses these features, that is why for younger patients liposuction is more effective.
It is recommended that liposuction is only performed by a surgeon who is qualified in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The more surgery the doctor has performed, the greater the probability of a successful operation. Do not hesitate to ask the doctor to show you some examples of liposuction.
Liposuction may be performed by using local or general anaesthesia. Local anaesthesia is used for liposuctions in 2-3 areas of no more than 400-600 cm2. If there are more than three areas, general anaesthesia is recommended. If liposuction is performed in or around the areas of the legs, it is advisable to use epidural or spinal anaesthesia.
For liposuction special canules are used. They are hollow tubes of different shapes and sizes, made of stainless steel and having one or several openings for sucking. They are connected to a special pump, which generates negative pressure from 0.6 to 1.0 atmosphere. Liposuction is performed having made small incisions, approximately 6 mm in length. They are made in places where they can hardly be noticed: e.g. wrinkles of skin and places hidden by underwear. After the incisions heal up, they look like small rosy dashes. Later, in 2-3 months those dashes become white and hardly visible. Usually one incision is needed for liposuction if the size of the body is 200cm2. If the area is bigger and is in a place which is unsuitable for liposuction, several incisions may have to be made made.
Post - surgery period
After the surgery, 1-2 days and nights should be spent in the clinic. The area which has been operated on will be treated with various pressure bandages: elastic fascia, special pressing underwear, girdles. The patient has to wear these pressing bandages for about 10 days after the surgery. They prevent the gathering of liquid and help the skin shrink. For 4-6 weeks there may be bruising in the area of liposuction and the sensitivity of the skin may be decrease. In 4-6 weeks it will return to normal. The effects of liposuction iare immediately obvious . But the full effect and shape will take about 6-8 weeks, when the bruising and tumefaction disappear. The success of the surgery depends not only on the skill of the plastic surgeon, who performs the operation, but also on the patients themselves and the characteristics. The patient should follow the recommendations of the surgeon and should not start physical exercises, too earlier, massage or solarium procedures. The best effect of the surgery will only be reached with full understanding and cooperation between the plastic surgeon and the patient.
So is it worthwhile to have surgery? Yes of course it is, if you want to become slimmer, even if in some areas of the body is still a collection of fat in the subcutaneous layers, which deforms your figure, and you are still worry about the defects of your body. Patients often ask whether the fat will not sprout up in the operated areas. No, this will not happen. Even if you gain 20 kg of weight, the fat will spread equally, so the effect of liposuction performed on the outline of the body will remain.
